Real Filesystem
The virtual filesystem is gone. YSH now works with the actual filesystem of the machine.
Yousuf Shell
A terminal built in Java.
Evolving into a lightweight shell ecosystem.
A lightweight browser environment inspired by the YSH terminal.
NOT JUST ANOTHER TERMINAL
YSH started as a simple Java shell. Then it kept growing.
What began as a command-line project evolved through multiple generations of the same project into a graphical terminal with networking, utilities, themes and a real filesystem.
YSH is developed by continuously rebuilding the parts that matter instead of simply adding another feature on top of the old system.
THE CURRENT GENERATION
YSH v8 is not simply a collection of new commands. Its biggest changes are underneath the terminal itself: the filesystem and terminal input systems were rebuilt, with the surrounding systems adapted around them.
The virtual filesystem is gone. YSH now works with the actual filesystem of the machine.
The old input dialog was removed. YSH now uses a complete terminal window for input and output.
A block cursor and stricter movement behavior make the terminal feel closer to an actual shell.
The calculator handles expressions instead of acting like a collection of isolated arithmetic buttons.
Notes commands were simplified into a cleaner structure: Note → Add → View → List.
Themes, developer tools, achievements and other smaller systems give YSH more depth beyond its core shell.
A major internal upgrade disguised as a terminal update.
ACTUAL YSH / ACTUAL OUTPUT
These are real YSH interfaces and outputs. Not mockups.
YSH provides a complete desktop terminal environment rather than a single command prompt.
Directory navigation, listing and file operations now work against the machine's real filesystem.
LAN discovery and communication are part of the YSH ecosystem, not separate projects.
Developer mode, achievements and the hidden details that make YSH feel like its own system.
Explore the shell.
YSH includes multiple visual themes so the shell can feel personal without changing its purpose.
YSH has a small detail that only appears during the late-night hours.
ONE PROJECT / MANY GENERATIONS
YSH did not begin as the system it is today. Its history is a continuous process of building, replacing and improving the same project.
The original command-line foundation.
The project started moving beyond its original shell.
The graphical foundation for later generations.
The GUI system continued to take shape.
Real filesystem, networking, utilities and a rebuilt terminal.
Upcoming with enhanced functionality and utilities like Task Manager and more.

UPCOMING / YSH v10
YSH v10 is planned around deeper shell behavior, filesystem tooling and a larger ecosystem around the terminal.
cp source destinationmvtreeheadtailTHE LONG-TERM VISION
A portable YSH device.
YSH One is the idea of taking the shell out of the desktop and turning it into a small, portable computing environment.
The planned hardware is based around a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with a compact display, rechargeable power and Linux.
YSH / OPEN SOURCE / ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT
YSH is built in public, one version at a time.
